World Vision South Sudan is looking for a qualified Finance Accountant
Title: Finance Accountant
Reporting to: Finance Manager
To provide financial support to the Finance team in a fast-paced, team oriented environment as well as manage and update office cash position in manner that provides assurance that optimal levels are maintained. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all transactions that are financial in nature are properly documented and such support documents are securely and safely kept and in a retrieval form.
Process payments and verify that payable accounting transactions or source documents are in line with WVI financial guidelines and manual.
Manage the Head Office Petty Cash floats on Imprest Fund basis and ensure that adequate cash is always available in the office to facilitate regular office expenditure.
Review petty cash payment documents for adequacy, accuracy and completeness before payment is processed for all petty cash payments done.
Prepare monthly reconciliation of petty cash statement and physical cash.
Handle the banking processes and ensure that any other approved cash needs are processed and funds availed to the requester within a reasonable time.
Ensure that all paid invoices are cancelled by marking them as paid to avoid any possibility of double payment.
Facilitating internal and external evaluations through retrieval and availing journal/payment vouchers and other finance documents as may be requested by the auditors or any other approved user and ensure that such documents are well filed after such use.
Issue payment checks to vendors and ensure that remittance advices are consistently generated.
Present information on the status of financial resources as required through reconciling and monitoring cash and bank accounts balances
Management of cash receipts.
Process timely transactions reports after data capturing.
o Liaise with the vendors on any payment related enquiries.
o Reconcile vendor statements, research and make corrections of discrepancies.
o Ensure systematic and accurately filing all relevant financial documents.
o Ensure the confidentiality and safely of all financial files.
o Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATION AND TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors Degree with strong academic record in Accounting/ Commerce/Finance
Minimum of 3 years work experience.
Knowledge of accounting software (in particular, SunSystem will be an added advantage)
Part-qualified accountants from an internationally recognized institute of accountancy will have a distinct advantage.
Should be Computer Literate with knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel.
Highly motivated to learn and work in a high-performance environment.
Willingness to tackle challenges and seek creative solutions in everyday assignments.
Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Must be able to meet urgent and last-minute deadlines, work with grace under pressure, and function well in a high-performance team.
Exposure to International Financial Reporting Standards.
Is a person of attested integrity, with high degree of stewardship of resources
Willingness to travel within South Sudan on assignments
