Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) 2013
The Liaison Office of the Government of Japan in Juba invites applications from interested non-profit organizations for GGP 2013 in South Sudan. 

GGP is a grant program funded by the Government of Japan to support projects initiated by non-profit organizations to enhance Human Basic Needs at grassroots level. As part of Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA), GGP was initiated in 1989 and it is currently operated in 108 countries around the world. The Embassy of Japan has supported 11 projects in South Sudan since 2005 such as construction of schools and demining.

Eligible Applicants
Any type of non-profit organization implementing development projects at grassroots level in South Sudan is eligible for GGP fund. Individuals and pro-profit entities may not apply. Non-profit organization includes the following;
-Non-Governmental Organizations (National/International)
-Community Based Organizations (CBOs)
-Medical Institutions (e.g., hospitals, health centers, etc.)
-Schools /Educational Institutions (e.g., primary schools, schools for persons with special needs, etc.)
-Local Governments

Areas of Focus
The fund’s priority will be given to the projects that focus on the concept of Basic Human Needs (BHNs), such as, primary health care, basic education, water and sanitation, as well as access to skills for the improved socio-economic activities. Furthermore, activities related to landmine actions (such as Mine Risk Education or Victims Assistance), as well as voter / civic education for the elections are also eligible.

Geographical Focus
Capital areas of the following states are given priorities.
Central Equatoria State, Eastern Equatoria State, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, Western Bahr el Ghazal State, Lake State, and Upper Nile State. 

Maximum of 10 million Japanese yen (approximately USD123,000 as of FY2012 -this depends on the exhange rate of the year)

Duration of a project  1 year

If there is difficultly in sending the document electronically, please bring a hard copy of the application documents to the Liaison Office of the Government of Japan in Juba directly (Palm Tree Resort 3F, Tonping, Juba, South Sudan -Off Airport Road. Next to Asante Hotel, and the beige colored building is located 30m down the road on your left hand side)
- First deadline: 31 March 2013   
- Second deadline: 31 July 2013
It is recommended to submit an application by the first deadline to be considered as a FY2013 project.
